Plenary speaker: Mandy Altimus Pond, Archivist for the Massillon Museum.

Registration rates:

Early bird (by May 2): $45 / SOA members, $65 / non-members, $30 / students.

Between May 3 & May 13: $50 / SOA members, $70 / non-members, $35 / students.

On-site registration*: $60 / SOA members, $80 / non-members, $40 / students.

Call for Proposals SOA 2016 Spring Conference

Knocking Down Walls and Reaching Out: Archives in Our Community

This year we are accepting both session proposals and poster proposals at the same time. All proposal topics are welcome. Possible ideas include, but are not limited to:

• Tools for Archival Discovery, Maintenance, and/or Marketing
• Outreach and Instruction efforts
• Student, Intern, and Volunteer Experiences and Projects
• Funding for Archival Projects or Archival Facilities
• Unique Collection Development Ventures
• Preservation of Analog and/or Digital Materials
• Description and Access to Traditional, Born-digital, or Hybrid Collections

Proposals of traditional panel sessions, student and professional posters, and alternative formats such as lightening rounds, pecha kucha, fish bowl sessions, and other session formats that allow for interaction between presenters and attendees are encouraged.

The Program Committee encourages proposals from students, new professionals, first time presenters and attendees, as well as individuals from related professions.
Proposals must include the following information:

• Session Title
• Session Type (Traditional Panel, Student Poster, Professional Poster, Fishbowl, Lightening Round, Debate, Mini-workshop, World Café, etc.)
• Session proposal abstract of 250 words or less describing the session or poster and how it will be of interest to SOA attendees
• Session Description for the SOA program (150 words or less)
• Session Contact Person (Name, Institution, Title or Degree Program, Telephone Number, Email Address)
• Other Participants and Contact Information (Name, Institution, Title or Degree Program, Telephone number, email address)
• A/V or Technology Requirements
• Additional Special Needs

SOA Spring Conference–Registration Open!

The Society of Ohio Archivists’ Spring Conference will be held on Friday May 16, 2014 at the Lakeside Conference Center at OCLC in Dublin, Ohio.

Registration is now open! The registration fee is $40 for members, $30 for students, and $60 for non-members. Register online at: http://www.ohiohistorystore.com/workshops/soa-conference-2014.aspx.

A pdf version of the registration form is available for those who do not wish to register online. Download the form here. Pre-conference registration will close on Friday May 9. Onsite registration is available, but lunch is not guaranteed for onsite registrants.

Register for the 2014 SOA Annual Conference

The Society of Ohio Archivists invites you to attend the 2014 Annual Spring Conference to be held on Friday May 16 at the OCLC Lakeside Conference Center in Dublin, Ohio.

This year’s theme, Building Capacity: Discovering Archival Collections in the 21^st Century, will explore user interactions with rare and unique materials in our technology driven society. We are excited to announce that the plenary speaker is Chris Prom, Ph.D., Assistant University Archivist and Associate Professor of Library Administration at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Prom is a recognized expert in digital archives.

Panel sessions and posters will feature topics on community outreach through mobile digitization and behind-the-scenes tours, digital repository migration, local grants programs, descriptive workflows, and more. This year’s silent auction will feature a Bowe Bell and Howell Sidekick scanner, valued at over $1,000 and tickets to Zoombezi Bay in Columbus, Ohio.

The registration fee is $40 for members, $60 for non-members, and $30 for students. Lunch is included in the cost of the conference but advanced registration is necessary to guarantee lunch the day of conference.
