Internship Description: The First Church (U.C.C.) in Oberlin, Ohio is accepting applications for an intern to arrange and describe the archives of the church. This is a part-time position,10-15 hours per week, and the wage is $15.00 per hour. Except for social security and worker’s compensation, this position does not come with fringe benefits of medical insurance, pension, or sick/vacation time. The duration of the position will be up to 15 weeks.
Required qualifications: Holding a master’s degree in archives or library and information science, working toward such a degree, or with substantial experience in the field.
Additional Information: The intern will be supervised by First Church staff. The Collections Manager of the Oberlin Heritage Center and the Oberlin College Archivist will serve as advisors.
The First Church archives include paper files, architectural drawings, artifacts, photographs, scrapbooks, books, digital files, CDs/DVDs, and electronic records.  Create a manual for the ongoing maintenance of the First Church archives.  Work with the First Church staff and the Oberlin Heritage Center to promote a collaborative effort to assist other Oberlin faith communities with the management of their archival collections.

Library, Archive and Museum Intern – We are seeking a student intern to join the OCLC Library, Archive, and Museum team of librarians located at OCLC’s headquarters in Dublin, Ohio. Throughout this internship, our intern will gain insight into the work corporate special librarians do daily; network with library professionals, learn about the types of libraries OCLC serves, increase familiarity with OCLC products and services, and attend OCLC-sponsored events on a variety of professional topics.  Intern may choose to work in any of the areas described below, or a combination therein:
Archives Maintenance, Data Enhancement Responsibilities include: Enhance existing metadata of OCLC Archive records stored in the OCLC Archive digital repository using CONTENTdm and within WorldCat. This may include editing existing or creating new cataloging records of archive collection items. Retrospective editing subject authorities of OCLC Archive entries in CONTENTdm utilizing authority-controlled vocabulary. This may include adding new entries to the controlled vocabulary. Correct links in the OCLC WorldCat knowledge base to connect CONTENTdm entries with records in the OCLC Library’s catalog. Assist archive/library staff with OCLC Archive’s donations backlog by prepping and digitizing analog documents using a digital scanner and adding/enhancing metadata before importing digital documents into the OCLC Digital ARCHIVE (using CONTENTdm). This may include conducting brief inventories of archive documents.
Museum Exhibit Research, Creation and Promotion Responsibilities include: Assist in researching, creating, and promoting an exhibit for the OCLC Museum. Work with the OCLC Corporate Archivist and staff in other OCLC units as needed to research an idea and prepare the storyline for an exhibit. Search the OCLC Archive collections for relevant exhibit items, design and assemble the exhibit, and help promote it. The exhibit will be viewed and appreciated by OCLC staff and librarians from around the world who tour OCLC’s headquarters campus.
Library Reference/Research Responsibilities Include: Work with the Corporate Archivist to pull/prep background information and items for a new OCLC Museum exhibit. Learn to search digital archived sources to locate potential objects for assembling potential new exhibits.
Internship will run from May 20 to August 9, 2024, working full-time. Intended for on-site attendance with some remote work if logistically possible and pre-approved by OCLC Library manager.​ Students must currently be enrolled in a LIS, Archives or Museum studies graduate level program.

Internship Description: The Ohio Genealogical Society has a paid internship for this winter thanks to a local grant from the Fran and Warren Rupp Advised Fund.  We are looking to hire a Genealogy Library Intern. The main responsibilities include: scan selected items from our collection as directed for use on our website; edit scans using Adobe Acrobat (cropping, applying optical character recognition, and optimizing); process archival material for preservation (unfolding, removing staples, organizing into folders, etc.); index information found in primary resources into a spreadsheet. The applicant can be undergraduate or graduate, they must be attending school in the spring (in other words, no recent graduates). Pay is $14.00 an hour for a maximum of $2,400 with flexible work hours, 9-5. Complete job description.

TASKS & DUTIES: Paging and curating content for research, digitization, and Reading Room appointments. Rehousing, inventorying, and documenting incoming acquisitions. Digitization for preservation and access. Arrangement and description of new and legacy collections.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: Understanding of archival arrangement and description or collection development as appropriate; experience preferred. Knowledge of or interest in legacy audiovisual formats. Familiarity with the IPTC metadata standard or other metadata standards. Attention to detail and good organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Proficiency in computer skills with a focus on databases and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, SharePoint and Teams. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Flexibility to adjust to changing demands. Historical knowledge of rock & roll and related genres strongly preferred. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for a couple hours at a time.
Preferred Experiences: Experience with collections management software preferred – Axiell Collections or Adlib is a plus. Library catalog navigation, Boolean operator searching. Adobe Photoshop/Bridge/Premier and/or Capture One.
